Happy International Women's Day
Mar. 8th, 2006 06:15 pmLots of good food. Lots of "what is it ?" food; but still good food. Lots of women having fun. Quite a lot of us dressed up in stunning saris and we watched Sri-Lanken dancing by an expert. 13 years old and she does it professionally! Much plotting to get a colleague who never wears skirts to try a sari.
I received my final notice of redundancy. So I'm here till the fag-end of May and already working to hand over. My feelings are really mixed; part of me is glad, I've been here so long and it's taken over my life; other parts panic, I'm pretty sure there's stuff undone that I could finish easily but that I may forget to leave notes for; and part says "what the hell were you thinking? How are you going to get another job?"
I won't starve. I'm getting about 8 months pay as redundancy pay isn't taxed. I wouldn't starve anyway, our family income is fine. It would hurt my pride though.
So it's "heigh ho" off to the job centre and psychometric testing tomorrow, JSA is £60 a week for 6 months and I might even try doing some house work.
Last time I was made redundant I build a tree house and a conservatory. This time perhaps sorting the books out might be a good idea. I'm reduced to buying second copies because I can't find the ones I already own.
