My brother is recovering from emergency open heart surgery. It must have been on my mind.
Also it turns out that my usual second guess would have been better than the one I used.

Eek! That's a bit of a Christmas shocker. Hope his recovery goes as smoothly as possible.

He's recovering but it has been shock for him. I think he's always thought of himself as invincible even after gutting himself with an exploding cutting disc a few years ago.
Mainly he's, understandably, feeling very sorry for himself and will probably do so for some months. He does agree it's better than the alternative.

I remember hearing about that incident... He'll probably feel quite battered for several months - I gather open heart surgery involves quite a bit of breaking adjacent bones for access!
