And just as I as about to ask the world what the phrase "Let's get gay with..." could mean. I've been reading Bulldog Drummond -my sympathies seem to lie with the villains so far - and it keeps cropping up. From context it seems to mean perhaps "get on with..". I can't recall having come across the idiom before in contemporary works and, as you might imagine, googling it is not educational except to confirm that it occurs in the books.
