I saw Lulin
Feb. 26th, 2009 10:37 pmIt wasn't that impressive in binoculars. :(
It seems to have been cloudy for the last week, but tonight there were gaps in the cloud. Not very big gaps and I'm not that familiar with Leo, but big enough to spot Saturn and Regulus and use them to point the binoculars in the right direction. It's the only star that's not in focus. To be fair I'm in the north of a small city and and had to look south-east into the glow so it wasn't likely to be naked-eye visible.
I'm trying to persuade the daughter to set up her camera if there are any cloud breaks tomorrow; Lulin will be less than a degree from Regulus so it should be easy to find.
