I was made redundant 2 years ago in May and was unemployed for 18 months. The part time, maternity leave cover administration assistant job become full time, then permanent and now i shall be office manager of one of the other divisions.
I took it on because I was fed up doing nothing and even if it wasn't the sort of job I'd had before I could think of it as better paid voluntary work - and it was only for 3 months. It all goes to prove that the best way to get a job is to have one already. I'm glad to be one of the10% of over 50s who get another paying job if they lose the job they have.
