GOOD GRIEF. What were they not thinking of?

Why didn't he

fly off by himself
get knocked out
get killed
bash his own head on the floor
jump into the future, past, far space?

And shouldn't he have had siphoned off all S' stolen powers? Though I suppose it would be a bit soon to have control.

I know, I know, narrative imperative or very lazy character development.
