Nice description, at language log, of the one-sided feud between descriptivists and prescriptivists . It seems to me there are echoes of the science versus religion conflict, even if that, IMO,  is also largely fought by straw men.
 "...we're more curious than censorious."

In other news, I didn't get that job either.
