Just submitted another application. On-line for the NHS, a very odd experience. Well, It'll keep the JC happy. Since I procrastinated until there was only a couple of hours before the deadline I suspect I didn't really want it.

Ooh, just got confirmation that it went in. I suspect 23:46 on the last day is cutting it a bit fine.

More importantly I have lots and lots and lots of Naruto.
Had to answer the door to the postman wrapped in a towleing dressing gown in 36ยบ heat since I'm being an unemployed slob and wasn't really dressed.
Still, lots and lots of Naruto.

In the quest to procrastinate I set up a library thing account. Picked up the first book that came to hand - a C++ text book in Japanese - put in the isbn and it found it. But WHY is the title in cyrillic?   Ah, now I go and look it's all question marks now. I don't suppose I've installed the right font on my laptop. Not a succsess.

It's not you, it's LibraryThing. It has a ton of unresolved issues with distinguishing languages that use 24-bit characters.

First, click on the Pencil icon to get the Edit page, then check to be certain it didn't wipe your ISBN number (as it usually does for Amazon.co.jp imports, a known bug); reenter the ISBN again and save.

If you're still matched with the wrong books, then click on the Index Card icon to get the info page for that title; then scroll down to the "Other copies and editions of this title" section and physically separate your book from any titles that aren't your book.

Then you can pray that the server doesn't crash yet again and scramble all your data, a problem that's only been visited (repeatedly) on the users who are using foreign characters in their entries. Sigh.
