I'm tethered to the wall by a network cable.
This is vexing because it's not raining for the first time in what seems like weeks and I want to work outside.
It's most odd. I clicked on a link and got "unable to load page". Tried another and got the same. Muttered and closed Firefox and restarted. Muttered more and restarted windows. Sighed and dug up a patch cable and spent several minutes trying to find the network socket on my laptop. It's discreetly hidden under a little flap. The wireless connection can see several available networks but can't connect to any of them, not even ours.
It has the hallmarks of a software fault , but to develop in the middle of browsing.... Most odd. I'll wait and see if anything can connect this evening before I blame either the broadcast unit or my laptop.
ETA Nothing else could connect either. A quick reboot solved the problem. Bizarrely, while my laptop claimed the connection had a good, clean, signal, SO's said it wasn't even there until it was fixed.
