Beach combing

doireCommon sense prevailed and we did not go swimming. It wasn’t just due to the temperature; it’s nearly spring tides and the sea was a long way off. You could tell it had been really high as the sand was washed right up to the edge of the dunes.
It gave me a chance to indulge in pebble hunting – this beach is mainly shell – and I found a piece of carnelian. Not a wonderful piece, but one piece is enough for honour.
I like carnelian. A few years ago there was a mah jong set on Ebay. The seller didn’t have good feedback, the shipping cost was iniquitous, and the seller wanted a cash substitute. I put one bid in, but far less than I would have paid if I trusted them. A couple of weeks later the seller was no longer registered so I probably had a lucky escape.
It was beautiful though and I still look from time to time to see if there is anything similar.
