Comet McNaught
is the brightest comet for 30 years.
For the next few days it should be visible, weather permitting, for about half an hour before sunrise and after sunset. At magnitude -2 it's probably visible while the sun is still above the horizon, but take care not to gaze at the sun too long even if it is dimmed by the haze.
In the evening Venus, magnitude -4, is also visible. On the 12th it'll be about 3 times as far from the sun as McNaught, at 10:30 relative to the sun. McNaught will be at 12:00 with its tail pointing straight up.
This is a public information service for the northern hemisphere. Perhaps I'll be able to see it by proxy, because the weather here is not playing the game.
